OREOS TAKE THE BISCUIT, AND THE JUNIOR DODGEBALL TITLE!

2nd March 2015: What can we say, it was another fantastic tournament at Bounce on Monday night! Building on the numbers we had last year a grand number of 14 junior teams of varying ages, girls and boys alike entered for the New City and March 2015 Bounce Dodgeball Tournament.

All the games were played in high spirit and fun was had by all that took part. After competing in the group stages, two groups of seven teams battling for the top two spots in each group, Gooden Warriors, Oreos (Group A) and Shrek is Love and Fantastic Four (Group B) rose to the top to claim their place in the semifinals. Both games couldn’t have been closer. Fantastic Four managed to overcome the hard throws and masterful dodging of Gooden Warriors (previous winners of 2014) and Oreos narrowly pipped Shrek is Love to the post in a tense well fought match.

This set up what became a nail biting final both teams performing out of their skins! Fantastic Four won the first, only for Oreos to take the second! One game all, it came down to the decider – one minute to decide the winner. The whistle blew and both teams were out of the blocks to grab the four balls – players dodged, ducked, dived caught and threw, neither giving the other team a lead. Players were hit, then a catch would be made to draw level again! The minute was up, but three players were left on each side – “last man standing” called the refs (first player out would decide the match). Two balls were thrown one ball a split second before the other -  two players from each side were struck, almost simultaneously – Oreos had taken the title!
